The last few weeks have been marked by early mornings, many miles in the car and long days on the glacier – and it has been incredibly valuable. I have spent much of June at Juvass, where the conditions have been stable and the training opportunities very good.
During this period, I have felt a clear progression in my skiing. Both technique and pace have improved, and I feel safer and more precise in my movements. Such breakthroughs provide extra motivation, and allow me to take a lot of self-confidence into my further training.
Now I'm back in Hemsedal, where the focus is entirely on bare-ground training . This is where the foundation for winter performance is really laid. The training consists of strength, flexibility, endurance and mobility - combined with enough recovery to withstand the strain. I'm in an intensive period where I try to take new steps every single week.
At the same time, I'm working on the golf course at Nesfjellet this summer. It gives me a nice combination of physical activity, fresh air and structure in my everyday life. It's also a good environment, and it feels good to be part of something local – in the middle of the mountains where I feel most comfortable.
Thanks to the coaches and the team around them who facilitate progress – and to the partners and supporters who make it possible to invest. I look forward to the continuation, and know that what I do now – day by day – will mean a lot when winter comes.
